Why we collect your information
West Lindsey District Council will collect your personal information for the purposes of delivering the Citizen Panel which is used to collect views on topics and services for West Lindsey District Council.
What information do you collect about me?
As part of being a member of the Citizens Panel, we require certain personal information from you so we can contact you to send you the survey and give any updates regarding a panel refresh.
We would also wish to obtain sensitive personal information which we will collect only with your consent such as your ethnicity, religion or disability details to enable us to ensure these groups of individuals are represented.
The data we collect is listed below:
- Title
- Forename
- Surname
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Email Address (to contact you only as required in relation to your Panel membership and to send Citizen Panel Surveys)
- Age
- Gender
- Marital Status
- Disability
- Education
- Ethnicity
- Religion
- Sexual orientation
The information you provide in response to our surveys will not be linked to your personal information in anyway and will be anonymous.
The council will only ever publish results to surveys in an anonymous manner and sensitive personal data will not be disclosed.
How will you collect personal information about me?
We collect personal information by letter and e-mail and only when you supply that information.
How will the Council use the information it collects about me?
We will use your personal data for the purposes of consulting with you to monitor and improve our services, by obtaining feedback from those using our services. This is on the legal basis that this is necessary for a task we are carrying out to benefit society as a whole and in accordance with our powers as set out on s111 of the Local Government Act 1972.
Will you share my personal information with third parties?
Your personal information will not be shared with third parties.
How long will you keep my data?
We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. Your rights in connection with personal information
Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:
- Have inaccurate or incomplete data we hold about you corrected.
- Request the erasure of personal data we hold

- Request the restriction of processing of your personal date.
- Request the transfer of your personal data.
- Request access to your personal information.
