West Lindsey District Council has join forces with Lincolnshire County Council and the other Lincolnshire district councils to promote Healthier Options, a scheme to assist small and medium-sized food outlets and businesses across Lincolnshire to make healthier changes to their menu and food preparation.
The scheme is open to all food businesses such as takeaways, restaurants, sandwich and coffee shops, mobile traders, leisure centres, canteens with a food hygiene rating of 3 and above.
How it works
As a business, you pledge to change and/or promote healthier options on your menu, in the food preparation/cooking or items for sale, (cold drinks etc). It could be as simple as reducing the holes on your salt pots to completely revamping your menu – please read the top tips leaflets attached to explore the options available.
Contact the Healthier Options team to go through what healthier options you want to include on your pledge and the team will help you complete it within three months. There is no cost to your business as the process is completely free.
In return, after completing your pledge, you will be sent your certificate and window sticker to confirm that you’re an official Healthier Options business and that you are committed to making a real contribution towards healthier lifestyles.
By working with the Healthier Options team, the aim for your business is to:
- Save money
- Increase footfall by attracting new customers
- Promote good health
- Advertise your business by adding it to the list of Healthier Options members on the website
Further information regarding the scheme and the Healthier Options team can be found on the Lincolnshire County Council Healthier Options webpage.
