One of the most well-known and well respected retail experts in the UK has teamed up with West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) to offer support to businesses in the district.

Clare Bailey, founder of the Retail Champion, is to hold four webinars and workshops for business as part of the Council’s package of support.

In addition to administering COVID-19 grants to businesses, securing reduced membership to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), promoting the Council’s Think Local campaign, the council wanted to do more to help.

The Council has enlisted the support of Clare, who has been visiting businesses in the district prior to lockdown, and is now offering remote support by hosting four online workshops/ webinars.

The sessions include:

  1. Thursday 11 February at 11am: A beginners Guide to EPOS, E-commerce and business systems (suitable for technophobes!)
  2. Thursday 18 February at 11am: Why use social media?
  3. Thursday 25 February at 11am: Kerb appeal! Top tips to ensure your premises look tip-top!
  4. Thursday 4 March at 11am: Developing a marketing and promotional calendar.

Chairman of the Prosperous Communities Committee, Cllr Owen Bierley said: “We are delighted to be working with Clare Bailey whose knowledge on retail and high streets will be invaluable to our local businesses.

“We know businesses are struggling and we are doing everything we can to extend support and help our local economy. Whether you are interested in attending all of the sessions or just one session – I would encourage as many businesses as possible to enroll on to the ‘free sessions’ to be able to maximise their potential.”

The webinars follow a very successful online session on “10-steps to retail success”, which Clare hosted.

She said: “Thanks to technology we can still provide help and support to 100s of local businesses. I would encourage anyone to register, even if you can’t attend on the day due to other demands on your time (homeschooling etc!). Everyone who registers still gets access to a recording of the session, so even if you can’t participate live you can get access to the content to listen again later at your leisure. I am really delighted to be working with WLDC in this way and during lockdown virtual sessions, such as these, are the next best thing to being able to meet in person!”

The sessions are open to businesses across the district – from online only and market traders, to start-ups and established.

They will all be approximately 1-hour and aim to be fast-paced, engaging, interactive and will provide participants with a wealth of take-away resources, including the recording of the session and a PDF of the slides (including the activities to apply to your business).

Registrations are already open for the first session: A beginners Guide to EPOS, Ecommerce and business systems (suitable for technophobes!). To attend you need to register via Eventbrite: Beginners Guide to EPOS and Ecommerce.
