Airfields and memorials are an intrinsic part of Lincolnshire’s history. The county is famously known for its links to the RAF and aviation heritage. Visit existing and former RAF sites across the county that played a huge part during World War I and II.

Polish Bomber Squadron Trail

Follow this driving trail to find out more about the men and women of the wartime Polish Air Force Bomber Squadrons who made Lincolnshire their home.

Polish Bomber Squadron Centre

The world’s first heritage centre dedicated to the Polish Bomber Squadrons is now open in West Lindsey. RAF Ingham Heritage Centre tells the stories of the remarkable lives and memories of the men and women (both ground and air crews) of the Polish Air Force Bomber Squadrons, who lived, worked, and flew alongside the RAF during the Second World War.  

The Main Exhibition Centre comprises of:

  • two wings, covering over 4602m of exhibition space including never seen before photographs
  • an atmospheric Polish Families Nissen Hut
  • a Mini-Cinema
  • Memorial Garden and Remembrance Garden
