Sack collection service

Properties in some areas of West Lindsey have their refuse and recycling collected in sacks. This is usually because they are unsuitable for wheelie bins, or in an area that is inaccessible for our vehicles. Wherever possible properties will be issued with wheeled bins.

Waste Sacks

What waste goes in each sack?

How many sacks am I entitled to?

Sacks are issued twice a year in June and December.

The sacks provided will equal the same capacity to contain waste and recyclables as would have if you had wheeled bins.  If you require additional blue sacks these can be purchased from The Guildhall, Marshalls Yard, Gainsborough.

There is a charge for these and more details can be found on the fees and charges page.

When and where should I put my sacks out?

Your sacks must be at your property boundary by 7am on the morning of your collection day. They should not be out any earlier than 5pm the day before.

Collections may temporarily change around the Christmas and New Year period. More information can be found on the bank holiday refuse and recycling collection information page.

Why weren’t my sacks collected?

The most common reasons for waste sacks not being collected are:

  • The sacks were not out them out before 7am on your collection day
  • The sacks weren’t accessible to our crew
  • Parked vehicles have stopped our bin lorry reaching your property
  • It’s before 5pm on the day of collection; the bin crew may still be on the way to come and collect your waste

If none of the above reasons apply, find out if we can come back and collect them by reporting a missed sack collection

How can I find more ways to reduce, reuse and recycle my waste?
