West Lindsey Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)

The national ability to set a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) came into force in April 2010. It allows local authorities in England and Wales to raise funds for a wide range of infrastructure that is needed as a result of development. This can include transport, education and potentially many other themes. The funding is levied from developers undertaking new building projects in their area.

Current position

West Lindsey District Council have taken the Draft Charging Schedule through Examination and subject to some modifications to the rates and maps, the draft charging schedule has been found sound.

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Inspectors Report

The council have revised the draft charging schedule and are taking the report through the governance process. The committee dates are as follows:

  • Challenge & Improvement Committee - 10/10/17
  • Prosperous Communities Committee - 24/10/17
  • Council - 13/11/17

It is anticipated, subject to Committee approval, that the council will implement CIL around 1 January 2018, however the final implementation date will be influenced by the desire to be aligned with the other Central Lincolnshire Charging Authorities and the implementations of processes and procedures related to CIL. Further updates on CIL and associated processes and procedures will be published online subject to Member approval.
