Be a volunteer digital champion

Our Digital Champion Project goes from strength to strength, but we continue looking for volunteers to help people develop the skills they need to use a computer and access the internet.

We have been installing computers and improving internet provision across the district to equip communities with the right tools to go online. But it also needs volunteers to become digital champions to help people make the most of this valuable work.

Volunteers don’t need to have any formal qualifications and will be supported in their new roles; all that is needed is a reasonable level of computer confidence, a friendly manner and the ability to explain things patiently. Drop-in sessions take place in many locations, known as Digital Hubs, across the district, including village halls, community centres and libraries, as well as the Guildhall in Gainsborough.

The project was set up to improve employment opportunities, and to help people fulfil their potential by giving them better skills and enhance job prospects, but volunteers also help with everything from claiming benefits and paying bills, to setting up e-mail addresses and following online interests.
