From left to right - Revd David Swannack, Cllr Mrs Pat Mewis & Ellie Hallam
Since arriving in Scotter many years ago Ellie quickly became embedded in the life of the community. Her generous and selfless personality serves as an example to all.
For over 15 years she has edited the local publication, Eau Valley Advertiser, and without her dedication to keeping it going, it may not be around today. She has also spent many years serving as an active church member and hardworking church warden.
She started an over-55’s luncheon club, which provides an opportunity for people to meet and connect with others and is now the Chairperson of the local Community Centre, where she provides a steer and steady hand to a much used facility.
She volunteers at Belton House every weekend and is involved with the History Society. She has helped raise large amounts for charities, and was at the heart of the village’s celebrations in 2018 for the centenary of the Armistice by organising the ‘Poppy Prom’, a musical event and celebration. This was a fabulous evening with choirs from Scotter and Scunthorpe, an orchestra and a good old sing-song of popular World War II classics. It was a sell-out production!
Ellie is a pillar of the local community and someone that is a pleasure to know and live alongside.
