Dog fouling is a concern to many of our communities in West Lindsey, visually and as a health hazard. West Lindsey District Council is reviewing how it enforces dog fouling and the consumption of alcohol in specific locations, and is now committed to updating the legislation it uses to allow us to tackle this problem.
This Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is intended to allow us to enforce a ban against the consumption of alcohol or possession of an open container of alcohol in the grounds of the Trinity Arts Centre, Gainsborough, or in the Pocket Park, Cleveland Street, Gainsborough. Also to consider banning dogs from the same land, or requiring them to be kept on leads. Breach of a PSPO is an offence, and the person committing the breach may be given a fixed penalty notice of £100, be prosecuted, or may be liable for further action under anti-social behaviour legislation.
