Public Space Protection Order Gainsborough Town Council

Dog fouling is a concern to many of our communities in West Lindsey, visually and as a health hazard. West Lindsey District Council is reviewing how it enforces dog fouling, the consumption of alcohol and the recreational use of motor vehicles in specific locations, and is now committed to updating the legislation it uses to allow us to tackle this problem.

This Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is intended to allow us to enforce a ban on all land belonging to Gainsborough Town Council (GTC). This has been requested by GTC to keep the areas accessible and well maintained for the majority of users. Breach of a PSPO is an offence, and the person committing the breach may be given a fixed penalty notice of £75, be prosecuted, or may be liable for further action under anti-social behaviour legislation.

Thank you to all those residents who completed the survey on the Gainsborough Town Council Proposed Order. Only 12 responses were received from the consultation, and while these were mainly in support of the making of the order, it was not felt the order could be made on so few responses.

The making of the order was deferred for further consultation, date to be determined.
