Update to Privacy Notice for Electoral Registration in response to the Coronavirus Outbreak

Under Article 5 GDPR: Principle (b) purpose limitation, we may use the personal data for another compatible purpose or where we have a clear obligation or function set out in law. 

Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 a Local Authority has a duty to assess, plan and advise and to performs its functions so far as necessary to reduce, control or mitigate its effects or take other action in connection with it, as well as to maintain arrangements to warn the public, and to provide information and advice to the public, if an emergency is likely to occur or has occurred.  The council will be using the data on this basis.

Who will your information be shared with?

Occasions when your information needs to be disclosed (shared) include: “where the health and safety of others is at risk, and when the law requires us to pass on information under special circumstances”. 

The relevant law here is the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and we will be using it in order to contact those identified as potentially vulnerable.  We may also share anonymised address data with emergency planners who are members of the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum to aid the emergency services.  For more details about Local Resilience Forums please visit the website at www.gov.uk/guidance/local-resilience-forums-contact-details.

Your rights

You are entitled to request a copy of any information about you that we hold.  Any such requests should be made in writing.

If the information we hold about you is inaccurate you have a right to have this corrected and you have the right to request completion of incomplete data.

You have the right to request that we stop, or restrict the processing of your personal data, in certain circumstances.  Where possible we will seek to comply with your request, but we may be required to hold or process information to perform our statutory functions.
