Lincolnshire County Council Elections

Elections for the 9 County Council Divisions within West Lindsey District Council administrative area will be held on Thursday 6 May 2021.

All 100 polling stations will be open from 7:00am to 10:00pm.

One councillor will be elected for each division and will serve a term of four years.

The nine divisions are:

  • Bardney & Cherry Willingham
  • Gainsborough Hill
  • Gainsborough Rural South
  • Gainsborough Trent
  • Market Rasen Wolds
  • Nettleham & Saxilby
  • North Wolds
  • Scotter Rural
  • Welton Rural

Register to Vote

The deadline to register for the election is Midnight on Monday 19 April 2021. If you are already registered to vote, then there is no need to register for this election. If you have not registered or have recently moved into the district or perhaps have moved within the area, then the easiest way to register is online using the link below.

Postal Votes

New applications, amendments or cancellations of existing postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Gainsborough by 5:00pm Tuesday 20th April 2021.

Proxy Votes

Amendments or cancellations of existing proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Gainsborough by 5:00pm Tuesday 20 April 2021.  

New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Gainsborough by 5:00pm Tuesday 27 April 2021.

Applications to vote by emergency proxy, where the emergency has occurred after 5:00pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Gainsborough by 5:00pm Thursday 6 May 2021. 

The emergency can only be on the grounds of the elector's own physical/medical incapacity or for work/service reasons.

Becoming a candidate 

If you intend to stand as a candidate you must be at least 18 years of age and a Commonwealth citizen, citizen of Republic of Ireland or a citizen of another Member State of the European Union. You must also either: 

  1. Be registered as a local government elector within the County of Lincolnshire; or 

  1. Have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises during the whole of the previous 12 months within the County; or 

  1. Your principal or only place of work during the whole of the previous 12 months has been within the County; or 

  1. Have resided in the County for the whole of the previous 12 months. 

You must complete a nomination paper, home address form, consent to nomination and any other relevant forms contained in the nomination pack. Nominations may be submitted from 09:00am Monday 22 March 2021 until 4:00pm Thursday 8 April 2021.
