AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS YEAR ENDED 31 March 2018

Public inspection of the accounts is governed by:

Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 S25, S26, S27

Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2015 Regulations 9, 14 and 15

The Council’s accounts are subject to external audit by John Cornett, Director, KPMG LLP, St Nicholas House, Park Row, Nottingham, NG1 6FQ. The Unaudited Statement of Accounts 2017/18 as published may therefore be subject to change.

The Annual Governance Statement as included within the Unaudited Statement of Accounts 2017/18 and will be approved by Governance and Audit Committee on 19 June 2018.

The Narrative Report as included within the Unaudited Statement of Accounts 2017/18 has been prepared in accordance with Regulation 8.

Members of the public and local government electors have certain rights in the audit process:

1. From 1 June 2018 to 12 July 2018 between 10am and 4pm, by appointment only, any person may inspect the accounts of the Council for the year ended 31 March 2018 & certain related documents (comprising books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts) at the address given below. They may also make copies of the accounts & documents. Please ring 01427 676676 or email finance@west-lindsey.gov.uk to arrange an appointment.

2. From 10 am 1 June until the 12 July 2018, a local government elector for the area of the Council, or his/her representative, may ask the auditor questions about the accounts. Please contact the auditor at the address given above to make arrangements to ask any questions.

3. From 10 am 1 June until the 12 July 2018, a local government elector for the area of the Council, or his/her representative, may object to the Council’s accounts asking that the auditor issue a report in the public interest (under schedule 7 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014) and/or apply to the court for a declaration that an item in the accounts is contrary to law (under schedule 7 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014). Written notice of a proposed objection and the grounds on which it is made must be sent to the auditor at the address given above and copied to me at the address given below.
