All residents and businesses in West Lindsey are being advised of a risk of locally torrential, thundery bursts of rain.
The warning from the Met Office advises people to be aware of the risk of local surface water flooding across the East Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber.
Whilst most parts will miss the worst, outbreaks of rain will be expected through Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday morning.
The council is urging residents and businesses to make their own arrangement to protect their properties by getting sandbags where necessary from a local builders merchant.
Unless you are vulnerable or in imminent danger the council is not able to provide sandbags to all households.
