Olympic medallist, Colin Jackson CBE, will join a local leisure operator for a family fun day to celebrate the opening of new facilities at a local leisure centre.
West Lindsey District Council, in partnership with Everyone Active, is hosting a community fun day at West Lindsey Leisure Centre on Saturday 15 September from 10am – 3pm.
To commemorate the official opening of the Health and Wellbeing Hub at the centre, Everyone Active will be offering a wide-range of activities to encourage everyone in the local community to become more active, more often.
The day’s activities will kick-start at 10.30am, where the local community will have the opportunity to ask their fitness-related questions to former hurdling star, Colin Jackson CBE.
Cllr Pat Mewis Chairman of West Lindsey District Council and Area Manager at Everyone Active, Simon Fearn and Olympic medallist, Colin Jackson will deliver a short speech, followed by a raffle prize draw.
Colin will be delivering a pilates class in the new group exercise studios from 12.30pm, and will be challenging local fitness fanatics to go head to head with him in a set of fitness challenges in the new 100-station fitness suite from 1.15pm.
The open day will offer masses of activities to encourage everyone in the local community to have fun and get active, including taster virtual classes, laser tag sessions and family swim sessions*.
Colin Jackson CBE, Olympic medallist, said: “I am thrilled to be joining Everyone Active and West Lindsey District Council to celebrate the opening of the new facilities at West Lindsey Leisure Centre. The day is set to be a lot of fun, and I hope to see you all there.”
Simon Fearn, Area Manager at Everyone Active, said: “We cannot wait to welcome Colin Jackson to West Lindsey Leisure Centre to celebrate the official opening of the new facilities.
“The open day will provide a fantastic opportunity for the local community to try out a wide-range of activities, and have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only meet Colin Jackson, but either take part in a class led by the Olympic star or try and beat him in a fitness challenge in the fitness suite. I would encourage everyone to come and join in the fun.”
Cllr Sheila Bibb, Chairman of the Prosperous Communities Committee at West Lindsey District Council is delighted Olympic athlete Colin Jackson is able to open the new leisure facilities.
