Lincolnshire launches Autumn and Winter marketing campaign

Date published: 01 October 2020

A new marketing campaign has launched to encourage tourism across Lincolnshire. It will support local businesses whilst also encouraging those who visit to respect covid safety measures.

It will target local people and regional visitors, encouraging them to take short breaks and day trips to increase volume and economic spend during the autumn and winter season, whilst still promoting social distancing.

The Lincolnshire campaign will complement the wider UK campaign, which is being delivered by Visit England this autumn, concentrating on trends which emerged during Covid. These include outdoor spaces, rural locations and coastal experiences. As well as emphasising and championing family time, quality businesses, covid security and a greater appreciation of sustainability and green tourism.

“The campaign has been built around Lincolnshire products and experiences that fit with activities that people feel confident about doing after lockdown,” said Charlotte Goy, CEO of Visit Lincoln. “We’re using a variety of platforms, generating quality marketing content via videos, itineraries, photography, blogs and 'listicle' content to attract attention and encourage people to support tourism businesses across Lincolnshire.

“"Lincolnshire can offer a covid secure, welcoming, relaxing or even exhilarating autumn break. Whether you are looking for a family day out or a short trip there is a huge amount available to choose from – and it is important that we tell people this. With so many quality products and experiences, and a very warm welcome - there really is no better place to be this autumn.

“By working with Visit England, along with our partners across the county, we are looking to deliver an inviting, inspiring marketing campaign, which will support tourism businesses and encourage visitors over the autumn and winter as well as 2021."

The themes highlighted in the campaign includes

  • Spend your time in Lincolnshire this summer / autumn
  • Quality experiences / things to do on your doorstep
  • Family time – core family and extended family [grandparents]
  • Rediscover what is here already
  • Explore new locations
  • Be a tourist at home
  • Share Lincolnshire with friends and family

The campaign started in September by promoting 'all things outdoors' that Lincolnshire offers; from walking and cycling to more unusual activities such as paddle boarding and walking with alpacas.

Visit Lincoln is working with Lincolnshire County Council and all other District Councils on this campaign.

Councillor Colin Davie, Executive councillor for economy and place at Lincolnshire County Council said: "Since lockdown eased, it has been great to see Lincolnshire people discovering more of their own county, revisiting their favourite businesses and discovering new things to see and do. Looking ahead, it is really important that that we continue to attract people, and enable our businesses to benefit from the autumn and winter season, whilst continuing to promote responsible tourism. Our hospitality sector is most at risk from Covid-19, and it is important that we work together to the benefit of businesses and their employees in the sector.  We have plenty of space for people to come and enjoy Lincolnshire’s beautiful countryside in a safe and secure manner.”

The campaign will run from September through to December 2020. For more information please visit www.visitlincoln.com or www.visitlincolnshire.com
