Business of the Week

West Lindsey District Council have been overwhelmed by the support they have received for their latest campaign to support local businesses.

‘Business of the Week’ was launched in December last year across the Council’s social media platforms encouraging users to tag their favourite businesses and say why they deserve to be Business of the Week. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of independent businesses, helping them reach new audiences and to strengthen West Lindsey’s ‘Think Local’ message.

Each week, the business with the most mentions is crowned Business of the Week and also receives a free copy of ‘The Retail Champion – 10-steps to retail success’ by Clare Bailey, one of the most well-known and respected retail experts in the UK. West Lindsey have also secured Clare as a business advisor; and is available to offer local businesses 121 support free of charge.

Social media users were quick to show their love for their favourite businesses and so far there have been 3 winners. These are:

  • Remember This, Gainsborough
  • Don Woods Flooring, Gainsborough
  • SweetieBelles, Caistor

So far nearly 130 nominations have been made with some wonderful comments showing their support.

Luke on Facebook said:

“Don Woods Flooring Ltd awesome service and great guy!”

 Pauline on Facebook also said:

“SweetieBelles in Caistor, Michelle has given us something that’s been missing in our little town for a long time! She has worked tirelessly to make it work, starting from a market stall to a wonderful sweet shop that’s a pleasure to visit.”

This week’s winner will be announced this afternoon (Tuesday 11 January).

Business of the Week is running weekly on West Lindsey District Council’s FacebookTwitterInstagram and LinkedIn accounts. All you need to do is look out for their weekly post on a Wednesday and tag your favourite business for them to be in with a chance to win. If you’re a business, tag yourself and encourage your customers to tag you too!

Think Local, Love Local this Valentine’s Day

Looking ahead, the Council are now inviting businesses to think about their own Valentine’s Day activities and what they can do with Council support over the period. Support is available to businesses who would like to be involved and those wishing to know more can contact the Council’s business advisor, Clare Bailey at clare.bailey@retailchampion.co.uk for further information and ideas.

The Council are also launching a new online competition and would like businesses to spread the love and post pictures of their Valentine’s window displays. The more creative the better and the winner with the most reactions will win a prize!

Post your pictures on your social media pages and make sure you tag West Lindsey District Council on either FacebookTwitterInstagram or LinkedIn. Don’t forget to also use #LoveLocalWestLindsey and #ThinkLocalWestLindsey. Entries that have not been tagged will not be included.

The winner will be announced on Friday 18 February and will win a copy of Clare Bailey’s book mentioned above plus a tailored piece of artwork at the top of the Think Local directory.

These campaigns are supported by Local Rewards, an initiative by Maybe* that is designed to support businesses recover from COVID-19 by giving them the support they need to reach more customers and make more sales.

West Lindsey District Council announced their partnership with Maybe* back in December and is now able to offer the Local Rewards platform to West Lindsey businesses for free! For more information or to sign up visit the Local Rewards website.
