Behind the Business: Meet Brooklyn from the Sugar Bun Fairy

Brooklyn Fention - the Sugar Bun Fairy

Brooklyn is the owner of the Sugar Bun Fairy; a bakery which specialises in bespoke cakes and sweet treats in Gainsborough.

As the owner of the business, Brooklyn is kept very busy handling absolutely everything – from baking and decorating, to cleaning, stock taking and handling the accounts!

Brooklyn started baking as a hobby when she had her eldest child in 2014. She wanted to create her 1st birthday cake as it was a special milestone. From that point, her passion and love for baking started to grow.

Brooklyn finally took the plunge and registered as a business in April 2018. Speaking about what she loves the most about her job, she said:

“Everything! Well, except the cleaning. I am so lucky that I get to do what I absolutely love doing every single day, but also seeing my customers faces when they see their orders and in a small way being a part of their special occasion is something I really love about my job!”

The bakery offers a selection of bespoke cakes, graze boxes, cheesecakes, traybakes, treat boxes, cookies, hot chocolate bombes and mini deserts, all made from a five star kitchen.

Brooklyn said: “I think businesses need the support from their community now more than ever to be able to keep what we have, and not lose it. I’ve met some amazing small businesses and was surprised how much we actually have here in Gainsborough!

In her spare time, Brooklyn loves to dine out and shop, as well as catch up on the latest cooking and baking shows. As a Mum of two girls, there are always plenty of takers for any spare baking left around the house!
