Over the Christmas period extra recycling can be placed next to your blue bin in cardboard boxes or carrier bags and this will be collected on your blue bin day.

Residents are reminded that the council’s garden waste collection service is on a winter break until Monday 25 March 2019. Real Christmas trees can be taken to local Household Waste Recycling Centres, please see www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/recycling for further information.

Top Christmas recycling tips

  1. Before you put any wrapping paper in your blue bin, please check if you can tear it, if it tears then it is paper and can be recycled by using your blue bin (or clear recycling bags)
  2. Don’t forget to squash your cans and plastic bottles to make more space in your bin
  3. Ribbons and bows cannot be recycled, so please remove them from wrapping paper and put them in the black refuse bin
  4. Please also note that we cannot recycle any paper or cards which have glitter on them
  5. We cannot accept bubble wrap or polystyrene, these items will need to go in your black bin

Here’s a list of what can be recycled

  • All plastic bottles (pop, milk, shampoo, bleach, washing-up liquid bottles etc)
  • Plastic tubs and trays, e.g. margarine and ice cream tubs
  • All cardboard (including cereal boxes, cardboard egg boxes, pizza boxes etc)
  • All paper (newspapers, magazines, junk mail, yellow pages, catalogues etc)
  • Glass – all bottles and jars
  • Soft drinks and beer/lager cans
  • Food tins (i.e. soup or baked bean tins)
  • Aerosols (empty)
