Gainsborough is looking forward to a three-day Continental Street Market this Bank Holiday Weekend (29th, 30th and 31st August), bringing tasty treats from around the world to the town centre.
The ideal destination for foodies of all ages, the market will be open from 10am until 6pm on Saturday and 10am until 5pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
As well as stalls located in Marshall’s Yard, the market will run in Market Place and along Silver Street offering a wide range of world cuisine.
Visitors can purchase hot and cold food and drinks, such as Greek gyros or Spanish Paella, plus sweet treats and craft stalls as well as fresh produce from local traders.
The market will adhere with all current social distancing guidelines, plus there will be marked queuing systems and hand sanitising stations, making the event as safe and enjoyable as possible.
The weekend’s event has been organised in partnership with West Lindsey District Council, Gainsborough Town Council, RR Events and the team from Marshall’s Yard.
Charlotte Toplass, Marshall’s Yard Tenant Liaison Executive, said: “We are delighted to bring a wide variety of cuisine from around the world to Gainsborough for the local residents to enjoy. We welcome everyone to come along and soak up the atmosphere in the town centre.”
Cllr Owen Bierley, Chairman of the Prosperous Communities Committee at West Lindsey District Council said: “We are delighted to welcome the Continental Market to Gainsborough Market Place, which will be a welcome addition to our Saturday traders. The three-day market is for local people and is aimed at supporting the reopening of the high street safely. Measures are in place to ensure local people can shop in confidence and we hope you will join us and play your part in adhering to social distancing guidance.”
John McInnes, RR Events Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are really looking forward to returning to Gainsborough next week for our August Bank Holiday Market. We’ve been back operating for a few weeks post-Covid and are delivering safe events in large towns and cities across the UK.
“We really hope the people of Gainsborough and the surrounding areas get behind us and come along to support not only ourselves, but the town as a whole during these challenging times.”
The market is being held in addition to the monthly Farmers’ market which is held on the second Saturday of every month.
