Lincs FM played host to twin sister act Ward Thomas in an intimate gig to around 200 of their listeners this month at the Trinity Arts Centre, Gainsborough.
Tickets were much sought after for the station’s first up close gig of 2019, only available to those lucky enough to have won a pair through an exclusive competition run by Lincs FM.
The girls wowed the crowd with an intimate set and elegant harmonies. Performing latest single ‘No Filter’ from their upcoming album ‘Restless Minds’ while taking listeners back to 2016 with hits such as “Carry You Home” and “Guilty Flowers” from their second studio album “Cartwheels, the first record by a UK country act to reach number one on the UK Albums Chart.
On talking about ‘Restless Minds’ and their journey, the country-pop duo said: “We have worked with some cool people on this album. It’s been amazing to write with many people and that reflects in the album, it’s the people we have been working with that has been very exciting. We feel very fortunate to have gone to Nashville at the age of Sixteen and work with some amazing musicians, our whole career we have met some amazing people.”
Craig Sanders, Trinity Arts Centre Manager was delighted to welcome Ward Thomas, he said: “I am passionate about bringing the very best in live and recorded entertainment to Gainsborough. We are continuously working hard to attract big names to our town, and our new partnership with LincsFM is helping us to do just that.
He added: “The gig last night with Ward Thomas attracted a full house and is one of many events this year that has attracted a new audience to our beautiful theatre. With artists like Ward Thomas performing at our venue, Trinity Arts Centre is attracting much wider regional and national attention – this is very good news for the town!”
On bringing Ward Thomas to Gainsborough, Lincs FM’s Programme Manager Sam Heywood said: “I am thrilled that Lincs FM could bring Ward Thomas to the area a month before their 2019 Restless Minds Tour. The girls create music that everyone can relate to and appeals to our broad listenership across Lincolnshire and Newark. The bond Catherine and Lizzy have as sisters really comes across in their stage presence, resulting in a heart-felt and emotional performance for all to enjoy.”
