Despite a rainy day at the Lincolnshire Showground, West Lindsey District Council entertained and informed punters throughout a busy day at the Lincolnshire Show.
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, The Lincolnshire Show is a true celebration of rural Lincolnshire - offering an eclectic mix of breath-taking entertainment, food, shopping, music, horticulture and farm life, creating the perfect family day.
Day one of the show was a big success. Amongst the hustle and bustle, crowds took a moment to learn more about West Lindsey, the home of the Lincolnshire Show, at the Council’s Marquee.
Visitors to the Council’s marquee were treated to a host of enjoyable activities which taught them more about all the services the Council has to offer.
Popular activities included the hook-a-duck stand, offering prizes to visitors, and fitness trials with West Lindsey Leisure Centre, which put guests through their paces with a number of rigorous exercise activities.
Visitors also enjoyed taking selfies with Pricilla the Goose, from Trinity Art Centre’s upcoming magical Christmas panto, Mother Goose.
The entries to the council’s photographic competition were on full display, showcasing some of the district’s hidden gems, whilst visitors were able to vote for their favourite as part of the ‘People’s Choice’ element of the competition.
On top of that, a series of CPR/defibrillator demonstrations offered visitors a chance to learn live-saving skills.
A number of the district’s councillors were on hand to answer questions on the day, and enjoyed hearing what visitors had to say about West Lindsey.
Chairman of the Council, Cllr Steve England, said: “At the Lincolnshire show this year we’re showcasing the vibrancy of West Lindsey and highlighting the breadth of opportunities the district has to offer. West Lindsey District Council is a progressive and enabling Council, and the show has been a wonderful opportunity to engage people in what we can provide for them. West Lindsey is the home of the Lincolnshire Show, this has been a great opportunity to host both honoured guests and members of the public to really celebrate the district.”
And there’s even more on offer on day two. The winner of the ‘People’s Choice’ award for our Hidden Gems photographic competition will be announced in the afternoon.
Plus, there’ll be a further three defibrillator demonstrations alongside our regular activities throughout the day.
If you’re attending the Lincolnshire Show, make sure you don’t miss out – visit the Council’s marquee to discover more about the fantastic opportunities throughout West Lindsey.
