Ideal location and quality of build aids growth of local business

A civil engineering business in West Lindsey is to grow its workforce after relocating its businesses, to a prime site in the district.

O’Boyle Engineering moved to Riverside Enterprise Park, in Saxilby, just over a year ago and already they have noticed a difference.

Managing Director, Rob O’Boyle said the location and the quality of the business park has resulted in more business prospects.

He said: “We are very happy here – it has been a good move! Being on a site such as Riverside Enterprise Park, you get to know people and build up your contacts.

“We’re now looking to employ more people and even invest in some apprentices now that we have a proper base, we are so happy with the build!”

O’Boyle Civil Engineering Ltd is a groundworks civil engineering company that was incorporated over 25 years. It carries out all types of civil engineering groundworks packages including: site clearance, foundations, drainage, ground remodelling and water attenuation.

Mr O’Boyle added: “Due to the prominent location of the business park on the A57, we received more exposure to passing traffic - as a result of this, we are getting a marked increase in enquiries from businesses asking what we could do for them.

“Plus, being just 'out of town' we don't suffer from traffic congestion unlike some of the other Business Parks in Lincoln.”

In order for O’Boyle Engineering to have their ideal workspace, a complete refurbishment of the existing portal frame, along with a new build extension, was developed by Stirlin to create a bespoke 5000 sq ft office and warehouse.

This has provided O’Boyle’s with their own high quality office accommodation as well as a large warehouse for storing and servicing their vast amount of plant and machinery.

Mr O’Boyle continued: “The ability to work and operate from a single base really helped in growing our business, the unit at Riverside Enterprise Park incorporates both a workspace and an office space with is very convenient and economical. Stirlin also provided a great after-care service should you wish to make alterations or additions to the units - we couldn't rate Stirlin highly enough!”

As previously reported, West Lindsey District Council is investing the site and has purchased 6,000 sq ft of workspace. It will provide leasehold opportunities to tenants, providing smaller workspace units ranging between 750 and 1500 sqft which is currently lacking in the district.

Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, Cllr Pat Mewis and leader of the Council, Cllr Jeff Summers, had a tour of the business.

Cllr Mewis said: “O’Boyle’s are a business with a tremendous amount of skill and experience, and it is inspiring to see how their business is thriving – especially in this quality bespoke build and location of the premises they are now operating in.

“I am delighted they have chosen to locate in West Lindsey as it is an ideal place to live, work and invest in. Sites such as this are a great example of a place where a business can really expand.”

Matt Padley, Development Co-ordinator at Stirlin, which has developed the enterprise park said: “It was a pleasure to be able to create a bespoke workplace environment for O’Boyle Civil Engineering, we have worked closely with them on projects before – so we were thrilled to be able to offer them a space on Riverside Enterprise Park to grow their business!

“These sites are a great opportunity for people and businesses to expand, and at Stirlin, it is wonderful to see the diverse range of businesses that have decided to invest and thrive here at Riverside Enterprise Park. This site will continue to grow, and we are excited to keep expanding on the next stages of the development.”
