Do you live in West Lindsey and love taking photos? Then why not enter West Lindsey District Council’s Hidden Gems Photographic Competition?

Pick up your camera or smartphone and look for Hidden Gems across the district. These could include quirky signs, unusual architecture, less well known spaces and places or local features that might capture the viewer.

The competition is being run by the Lincolnshire Show Committee at the council – which supports the annual event, which is home to West Lindsey.

Chairman of the Lincolnshire Show Committee at the council, Cllr Pat Mewis is encouraging photographers of all ages to take part.

She said: “We are thrilled to launch our Hidden Gems competition. We want to showcase both the wealth of local creative talent and the wonderful area in which we live, through beautiful and engaging imagery.

If you like to go off the beaten path to find that unique shot then this may be right up your street. Alternatively you may be able to capture something striking which is maybe in plain sight but a hidden gem that you can showcase. I am looking forward to seeing all the submissions.”

The competition will be judged by a special panel and there are three categories to enter:

  1. Over 18s winner

  2. Under 18s winner
  3. People's Choice Award (These will be on display at the Lincolnshire Show for visitors to vote for their favourite photograph)

Entries will be displayed in West Lindsey District Council’s marquee at the 2019 Lincolnshire Show. The closing date for entries is May the 6th 2019.

Selected images may also be used at council events and marketing material throughout the district.

Lucky winners will receive gift vouchers to put toward any photographic equipment or supplies.

Entries will need to be emailed to or alternatively they can be handed in at the Guildhall in Gainsborough to the communications team, where they will be shortlisted.

Full terms and conditions can be found here.
