Services for people with a visual or hearing impairment

There are 8.6 million disabled people in the UK today, which is 14.6% of the population. Within West Lindsey, 23.6% of the adult population (over 16) have some form of long-term illness, health problem or disability that limits their ability to carry out everyday tasks (www.research-lincs.org.uk 2001 census).

Producing information in a way that all our customers can read is fair, makes business sense and is the law. Because a customer has a disability does not mean that they are not capable of making decisions and leading independent lives.

We work hard to make sure we provide choice to our customers and that staff understand the importance of listening and meeting different customer needs.

On the links below are further details of the different initiatives we have available to make services more accessible to those hard of hearing or visually impaired.
