Alcohol and entertainment

The Licensing Act 2003 came into effect on 24 November 2005. The Act transferred the responsibility for licensing the sale and supply of alcohol from the Magistrates Courts to the District Councils, and also brought in a completely new system of ‘personal’ and ‘premises’ licences covering alcohol sales, musical entertainment, film shows, indoor sports, stage plays, and late-night take-away food premises.

The council’s Licensing Policy sets out the criteria which the council will use when considering applications under the Act. The policy is available on this site in PDF format (under ‘Downloads’). All application forms can be downloaded from the Department of Culture’s website.

The council’s ‘Application Guidance’ is available from the Downloads section.

Guidance for large scale events is available at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk

Licensing registers are available to view by prior arrangement at the council offices.
