First Homes

First Homes is a new tenure of affordable housing which offers properties for sale at a 30% discount from the open market value to eligible first-time buyers. The discount will be on the property in perpetuity and so the property will always remain as a First Home through subsequent sales. It is only specific new-build properties that are designated as First Homes.

Buying a First Home

West Lindsey District Council as the local authority does not receive First Homes applications direct from applicants themselves, instead these are dealt with by either the developer or estate agent involved.

However, West Lindsey District Council does have a role to play in determining whether a purchaser is eligible.  If you have any queries or would like any further information on First Homes, please email firsthomes@west-lindsey.gov.uk.

Owning a First Home

There are certain rules associated with a First Home that affect how the property can be used, and your solicitor/conveyancer will have made you aware of these before you bought the property.

You must contact West Lindsey District Council if you want to either:

  • sell your First Home
  • rent out your First Home

Please email firsthomes@west-lindsey.gov.uk for further information.
