Thursday 8th May is Victory in Europe Day (VE Day). This is the day the German forces surrendered to the Allied powers.
To commemorate VE Day in Caistor, there will be a mid-day proclamation by the Town Crier (Mr William Smith) in the market place. Later, in the evening from about 9pm, we will meet in South Street park to light the beacon. At 9:30pm prompt, the nations and allied nations will light their beacons, and choirs sing "I vow to thee my Country".
This one special moment in time to commemorate the 80 years of peace that so many members of our local communities fought for so many years ago.
Friday 15 August is Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day). This is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered, in effect bringing World War two to an end.
