The Welton Larder, a volunteer-led initiative providing vital support to residents facing financial difficulties, health challenges, family hardships, or homelessness, continues to make a big impact in the community.

Operating from St Mary’s Church in Welton every Thursday, the Larder not only offers free basic food items but also extends home deliveries to those unable to attend in person.

Visitors are welcomed with warmth, a hot drink, and a nourishing meal, creating a space to meet, talk, and seek advice in a supportive and inclusive environment.

In recognition of their extraordinary efforts, Councillor Diana Rodgers, West Lindsey District Council ward member for Dunholme and Welton, recently allocated £1,000 from her Councillor Initiative Fund (LCIF) to support the Larder during this particularly challenging time of year.

Reflecting on the donation, Cllr Rodgers said:

“The volunteers at The Welton Larder do an incredible job, and I am proud to be able to support their work through this contribution. Their dedication, especially during the festive season, is truly inspiring. They have not only provided essential items but have also brought Christmas joy to many families in need.

"Last Thursday, The Welton Larder delivered a total of 43 hampers, with 32 distributed to food bank attendees, including 11 families, and an additional 11 passed to families via local schools. Volunteers rallied together to collect, box, and wrap the hampers - a monumental task that they described as deeply rewarding.

"The team at The Welton Larder expressed their heartfelt gratitude to West Lindsey District Council and the wider community for the ongoing support that enables them to continue their life-changing work."
