Flag raised to mark Pride Month

Cllr Bunney and Lisa Langdon with the Pride flag raised

West Lindsey District Council raised the rainbow flag today (3 June), outside Guildhall to celebrate the beginning of Pride Month.

Council Chairman, Cllr Stephen Bunney, raised the flag just after 10am, and was joined by members of the Gainsborough LGBTQ+ community, and others gathered to watch the event.

Chairman Bunney, who was accompanied by Lisa Langdon, Assistant Director - People and Democratic Services, thanked those who joined in the ceremony.

He said:

“Pride Month is a month-long celebration that recognises the LGBTQ+ community and their contributions to society. It is time to acknowledge the challenges faced by this community and to stand in solidarity with their fight for equality, acceptance, and human rights.”

He added:

“I would like to thank you all for joining us today, to pause and reflect, but most of all to celebrate.”
