Businesses significantly impacted by the disruption caused by Storm Henk can apply for financial support through the UK Government Business Recovery Grant (BRG).

A grant of £2,500 is now available (via application) to eligible West Lindsey businesses, to help support recovery in the aftermath of this severe weather event.

The BRG is made available by West Lindsey District Council, on behalf of the government through the Flood Recovery Framework, and is used in exceptional circumstances to support businesses impacted by severe flooding.

Cllr Leslie Rollings, Deputy Leader of West Lindsey District Council, said: “West Lindsey has experienced significant flooding as a result of recent bad weather and although many businesses were able to continue to operate, I am pleased to announce the launch of the Business Recovery Grant to support local businesses significantly impacted by Storm Henk.

“Eligible businesses can make an application to the fund until 5pm on 1 March and I would encourage businesses impacted by Storm Henk to visit our dedicated webpage now to establish if they are eligible to make an application for a grant which will support the recovery of their business operations.”

To qualify to make an application to this fund, businesses must be both: (1) a Small to Medium Sized Enterprise (SME); and (2) have been trading at or from the property (in West Lindsey) at the point that the property was impacted by Storm Henk (2 January 2024 to 12 January 2024).

Additionally, businesses must be able to show evidence they have either been: (1) directly impacted by Storm Henk – for instance the business suffered flood damage to the business premise; or; (2) indirectly impacted by Storm Henk – for instance access to the business premise was severely restricted as a result of flooding, including no/highly restricted access for customers, suppliers or staff.

There are also new rules around eligibility for businesses that benefitted from a BRG (Babet) grant award.
