Lea Fields Crematorium will be hosting an open day and offering people a tour of its facilities later this month.

The announcement follows the "Dying Matters Awareness Week" (May 2 – 6) which prompted people to have conversations around death, dying and grief.

Lea Fields, which is run by West Lindsey District Council, opened the much-needed facility two years ago in January 2020. Prior to opening, visitors were able to have a look around and learn more about the service.

Now that the Government’s Covid restrictions have been lifted, we are able to extend an invitation to attend the Lea Fields Crematorium 2022 Open Day, meet the team and ask questions.

Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, Councillor Angela Lawrence said:

“Discussion around death is still a taboo subject for many, our open day will enable people to look around in a relaxed and informal way and ask our friendly team any questions they may have.

“We are looking forward to showcasing our garden of remembrance and our beautiful gardens which have now had time to mature a little since we opened.

“We are also delighted to welcome our Hilton Studio artist on site for the day. He will be demonstrating how he carefully creates the special messages in our beautiful Books of Remembrance.”

The open day will take place on Sunday 29 May. We will be offering 4 scheduled 30-minute tours from 11:45am for anyone wishing to see behind the scenes, the last tour will take place at 2pm.

Tour times:

  • 11:45am to 12:15pm
  • 12:30pm to 1pm
  • 1:15pm to 1:45
  • 2pm to 2.30pm
