Landlords in West Lindsey have been advised to ask for support and assistance to help with vulnerable renters.

The Home Choices Team at West Lindsey are looking to offer support and assistance, and are concerned that there may be landlords in the District unsure of steps they can take to help with their tenants.

On top of being able to offer support and guidance, West Lindsey District Council have recently been awarded over £37,000 from Central Government to help provide support for vulnerable renters.

The funding was announced as part of a £65 million Government national support package for vulnerable renters across the country, and is being provided to help local councils to provide support to low-income earners in rent arrears, helping to prevent homelessness and support families get back on their feet.

Deputy Leader of West Lindsey District Council, Cllr Anne Welburn, said: “This funding provides us with an opportunity to get the message out to landlords – you are not on your own. If you are unsure what steps to take next with a struggling tenant, reach out to us. We may be able to help with advice, guidance and where able – with rent payments.

“We know that the pandemic has left landlords in our District in a difficult position and that is why we want to get the message out there that we are here to help. Reach out to us and the Home Choices Team as soon as possible.”

Home Choices Team Manager, Rachel Parkin, said: “We understand that the past 18-months for landlords, with the Coronavirus rules and guidelines in-place, this has meant that there are landlords within our District unsure what steps to take next to help a struggling tenant. That is why we are asking those that need that support to get in touch with us – we are here on 01427 676676 or via email home.choices@West-lindsey.gov.uk .

“If you need help and support with your tenants, let us know asap and we will help as much as we can.”
