That is the message from West Lindsey District Council’s Assistant Director and Chief Finance officer Tracey Bircumshaw.

To mark International Women’s Day we are catching up with members of the council’s senior leadership team to inspire women and to celebrate their achievements.

Tracey started her local government career at 18 years-old as a typist in Environmental Health. She has worked her way up the career ladder to become a member of the senior leadership team at the Council.

She said: “I have been given the opportunity to learn and develop my knowledge and skills over the years and have also been supported in undertaking my professional accountancy qualifications.  I have achieved many career goals along the way through hard work and determination.”

Tracey has always worked full time, while being married and raising two children. Her advice to any woman looking to progress her career is: ‘Remember to be optimistic and learn from your mistakes!’

International Men’s Day is celebrated on 19 November 2021
