Geographic Information - disclaimer and technical details

Geographical information map

The Aurora™ My Area system provides a single point of access to geographic information held throughout the district. You can find information about your house or neighbourhood and find your nearest amenities.

By using Aurora™ mapping you are agreeing to the following disclaimer:

West Lindsey Maps provides members of the public with access to West Lindsey District map based data, for information purposes; all information is for indicative use only. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the data, which is supplied in good faith, the Council will not accept any liability in respect of any loss, damage or injury (financial, contractual or otherwise) sustained as a result or allegedly as a result of reliance thereon. Wherever possible, text-only versions of the data provided within this service can be accessed elsewhere within the West Lindsey Council website. It is important to note that property boundaries shown on the mapping and data in West Lindsey Maps do not relate to land ownership; land ownership queries should be referred to HM Land Registry. The Land Registry website is at UK Land Registry Service.

Statement of purpose

The Ordnance Survey mapping in Aurora™ is provided by West Lindsey District Council in order to fulfil its public function to make information available, as part of the council’s strategy. Persons viewing this mapping should contact the Ordnance Survey for advice where they wish to licence Ordnance Survey map data for their own use. The OS website is at Ordnance Survey. If you wish to purchase maps this can be done by visiting West Lindsey Mapping Data Centre.

Accessibility of maps and GIS (geographic information system) mapping

We strive to meet the needs of all computer users with visual impairment or other conditions that may limit your accessibility to our website. Unfortunately, because of its colour, graphics intensive nature and the complexity of the information shown, this means the map based geographic information in the GIS mapping area of our website cannot currently be presented in an easily accessible format and this may make accessibility difficult for some.

INSPIRE Compliance

The purpose of INSPIRE is to allow spatial data to be comparable across regions in the UK and Europe to give decision makers consistent evidence about the environment. The regulation came into force in 2009 and its implementation is being led by the UK INSPIRE team in Defra.

West Lindsey District Council has statutory obligations to progressively publish metadata and data for geographical information.
