Introduction

The Community Action Fund provides revenue grants to support projects that will build, enhance, or ensure sustainable and impactful community activities, events and services for community benefit.

This funding is for community projects that will support priorities within our Corporate Plan and help us to achieve our vision that:

"West Lindsey is a great place to be where people, businesses and communities can thrive and reach their potential."

Projects funded will align to one or more of our funding themes:

  • Arts and Culture
  • Community Development
  • Crime and Disorder Prevention
  • Digital Connectivity
  • Economic Development
  • Education and Skills
  • Environment
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Heritage
  • Regeneration
  • Sport and Physical Activity
  • Transport and Connectivity

How to apply to this fund

For this fund we ask organisations to complete our Community Grants Expression of Interest Form.

For all our funds we have a grant application form. The application form is used to get more detailed information about your organisation, project details, evidence of need and project costs. We will send an application form to you after you have completed an expression of interest.

Closing Dates for this fund

This fund is open to applications at any time. The fund is due to close in January 2026 but may close earlier if all available funding is awarded.

Grant amount available

The maximum grant available is £20,000.

The minimum grant available is £1,000.

We can fund up to 100% of project costs however, securing match funding will be viewed favourably in the review process.

We expect that most grants awarded will be between £1,000 to £10,000.

We may be able to consider requests for more than the maximum for district-wide or strategically important projects.

What this grant can be used for

This grant can be used for:

  • equipment
  • event costs
  • venue hire
  • third party match funding
  • revenue costs of delivering a project

What this grant cannot be used for

This grant cannot be used for:

  • anything illegal
  • support to lobbying or campaign groups
  • anything that will bring the council into disrepute
  • anything party political, including supporting political organisations
  • anything contrary to the council’s financial regulations or council policies
  • anything that an organisation or local authority has a statutory obligation to deliver
  • projects based or operating outside of West Lindsey unless they provide significant benefit to communities within West Lindsey
  • anything that has already been spent or committed before receiving a grant (known as retrospective funding)

The following organisations can apply to this fund:

  • businesses1
  • charitable incorporated organisations
  • community interest companys
  • constituted community groups
  • faith organisation1
  • parish councils
  • parish meetings
  • public sector organisations
  • registered charities
  • schools and academies1
  • social enterprises
  • town councils

Organisation requirements

To be eligible for funding, organisations must have the following:

  • a constitution or similar governing document (excluding parish and town councils)
  • a bank account in the same name as the organisation
  • relevant policies or safeguards if the project involves children, young people or vulnerable adults
