Business Recovery Grant

Following Storm Babet, a UK Government Business Recovery Grant (BRG) of £2,500 is now available (via application) to eligible West Lindsey business, to help support recovery in the aftermath of this severe weather event.

To qualify to make an application to this fund a business must be both: 

  • a Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) by the Government's definition which is: to have fewer than 250 employees and have a turnover of less than €50m or a balance sheet total less than €43m
  • trading at or from the property (in West Lindsey) at the point that the property was impacted by Storm Babet (19 October 2023 to 25 October 2023) (fully constituted businesses in liquidation, dissolved, struck off or subject to a striking-off notice are not eligible under these conditions)

And be able to provide evidence to show that the applicant business has either been:

  • directly impacted by Storm Babet – for instance the business suffered flood damage to the business premise
  • indirectly impacted by Storm Babet – for instance access to the business premise is severely restricted as a result of flooding, including no/highly restricted access for customers, suppliers or staff

Additionally, the applicant business must:

  • be able to receive the grant payment in line with subsidy controls
  • have appropriate flooding insurance cover in place or have actively made attempts to insure the business premises against flood damage on at least one occasion since 1st January 2023
  • not been in receipt of a BRG grant award in the past six months

Before you start to complete the application form you will need the following information to hand:

  • business rates bill to obtain your business rates reference number (where your business operates from a rated premise)
  • a scan of your Business Bank Statement dated within the last three months to upload – where online banking is used screen prints can be uploaded
  • photos to demonstrate damage to premises, equipment or restricted access to premises
  • valid insurance document showing level of cover (property, contents, liability etc.) and any excesses or evidence of attempts to insure the business premises against flood damage on at least one occasion since 1st January 2023
