The Council is committed to consulting with and listening to the views of our residents, users of services and our partners. This helps us to develop our services and carry out consultation that is of a high standard.
By consulting in an open and transparent way, the Council can ensure that opinions and concerns are gathered. We do set corporate standards to follow when carrying out consultation and in August 2008, the Council adopted the Consultation Strategy. To view the Strategy, please click on the link at the bottom of this page.
The Council uses a variety of consultation and engagement techniques and before any consultation activity is undertaken the appropriate level of public participation is identified. There are four main levels which are empowerment, participation, consultation and communication.
We publish our proposed, current and completed consultations so that we can inform and involve you in the key council decisions.
By listening to our public we can deliver better decision making, understand better the needs of local people and take the opportunity to make our services more relevant and effective.
