Countryside and Heritage

If you are looking for something more active, then the district of West Lindsey can offer a wonderful array of cycling and walking routes for you to explore in the great outdoors.

Enjoy a walk in award winning countryside or follow the cycle trails which run alongside some of Lincolnshire's waterways - interesting routes that are forever expanding.

Free walking and cycling leaflets are available from West Lindsey District Council Tourism Unit - telephone:01427 676666 or e.mail tourism.info@west-lindsey.gov.uk

The Viking Way long-distance footpath runs 130 miles, starting at the Humber Bridge in the north and ending at Oakham, Rutland in the South.  The path passes near the town of Market Rasen, and from here you can follow the sign-posted route north to Caistor, or East towards Tealby.
Look out for the distinctive Viking helmet wayward signs.  Willingham Woods, on the eastern edge of Market Rasen, is the perfect setting for walking and cycling.  Many of the circular routes from Market Rasen use the National cycle Route 1 as a base.
