Building Control Unit
The Unit provides a plan checking and site inspection service to the public, builders, architects and developers to ensure compliance with the building regulations, and also has responsibility for dangerous structures, demolitions and promoting access for the disabled.

The aim of the Building Control Unit is to provide a safe built environment by ensuring the health and safety of people in and around buildings, their welfare and convenience, furthering the conservation of fuel and power and ensuring reasonable provision of facilities for the disabled.

Service Provision
The Unit undertakes the following duties:

  • Enforcement of the Building Regulations
  • Dealing with dangerous structures to ensure public safety
  • Dealing with demolitions to ensure public safety
  • Providing a facility for the public to view the public sewer maps
  • Keeping the register of Approved Inspector building regulation applications
  • Land Charge enquires

Submit-A-Plan
The West Lindsey Building Control service has joined with other Local Authorities to develop the Submit-a-plan portal.

This allows you to submit Building Regulation applications over the internet.

You are able to complete an on-line application form and send us electronic copies of your plans. At the moment you cannot pay the fee 'electronically', on-line payments will be available soon. So, for now, payments still need to be made by cheque, or debit card.

This service is:

  • Free of charge to use
  • Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week
  • No printing or postage required - cost savings
  • To register and submit applications is simple - via e-mail
  • Online feedback on individual applications - instant monitoring 'Track-a-Plan'

Building Control Newsletters

Performance Results

Please find below the Building Control Performance Results from January 2009 until the present time, these represent the quarters of the year and show 3 sets of results, the first set of results shows how the section has performed against the Building Control Performance Standards.  The second set show our Customer Satisfaction survey results and the third set show the diversity statistics.

Building Control Customer Forums

Building Control held the first Customer Forum in March 2009 that consisted of a variety of builders, architects and agents.  The minutes from the Customer Forums can be found below.  The second Customer Forum was held in October 2009.
