Your input is important so that we can continue to improve the service we provide.
We gather feedback in various ways:
- User Surveys
- A 'User Exit Poll' on our website
- Feedback and comments submitted to us online, in letters, or even over the phone.
You Said: "I'm looking for Planning decisions for 2004" and "Planning Information not listed by area, only by date of application, no search facility made it difficult to find info"
We Did: Besides viewing new applications that we receive, and being able to add your comments, you can also view all Planning Applications made since 1996. You can search by Ward, date or reference number to filter the results, and for all applications after 2004 you can also see the current status of the application. Search Planning Applications on the planning tracking page.
You Said: "..the telephone often went unanswered and messages were not followed up.."; "How do I know if an extension/conservatory needs planning permission?" and
"Do I need permission to erect radio antennae?" We Did: To improve our service we have established the First Contact Team. Whether you are planning to alter or extend your home, erect a detached garage in your garden, or change the use of a building or piece of land; the very first question you are likely to have is “do I need planning permission?”
There are many circumstances when planning permission is not required, known as permitted development. However permitted development regulations can change or be amended from time to time and are often open to interpretation which can result in some feeling a little confused by the whole thing.
First Contact Team
Don’t worry help is at hand!
Within Development Control we have a dedicated First Contact Team consisting of a Technical Officer and a Planning Officer every day (times as below) including a Conservation Officer once every two weeks and an Enforcement Officer once every two weeks. The team are on hand to help you with your general planning queries and to help you interpret the permitted development right regulations. You can gain an opinion as to whether or not planning permission is required by any of the following ways:
Telephone: call 01427 676676 (option 4) – If you receive the option to leave a voice message it means the team are on another call or in reception dealing with another enquiry, please leave a message and contact number and we will get back to you within 24 hours maximum.
Reception: call into the Guildhall and ask to speak to the First Contact Team

You Said: "..Why do I have to open pages of PDF documents to find an application, and why can't I view drawings online?"
We Did: New applications can be now be viewed in weekly updated lists
here. You can also track your application via this link. Unfortunately we do not currently have a facility to allow plans to be viewed online, however we will investigate this suggestion further.
So how did you rate us? For Planning, the latest User Surveys were carried out during 2006 and early 2007. Part of this involved a 'Planning Applicants User Survey' where a sample of individuals who had received a decision on a planning application were contacted between 1st April and 30th September 2006. Results show that satisfaction had risen from 67% to 70% since the same period in 2003. (Source: West Lindsey District Council; Council Tax Guide 2007/08)
