Friends of Richmond Park

Image of Richmond House, Gainsborough

Richmond Park was left to the people of Gainsborough and District in 1946, and first opened to the public in May 1947.

The Friends of Richmond Park are a group dedicated to encouraging visitors to the park, improving or creating new facilities and running events and activities on the park.

Our aims are to:

  • Encourage greater use of Richmond Park for the benefit of all
  • Encourage more family groups, community groups and clubs
  • Hold more (and more regular) events, making days, concerts, pic-nics, etc.
  • Work with existing local groups and clubs and assist in their development and the development of the park and to encourage the formation of new groups and clubs to be based at Richmond Park.
  • Raise funds for projects on the park such as Lark in the Park, mosaic stepping stones with local children and improvements such as a bandstand or indoor workshop space.
  • Hold and help organise profile raising events, to help bring new and fresh ideas for events and improvements for the park.
  • Be a band of volunteers and all round heroes to help provide interesting (and wherever possible free) events for the general public.

We are open to all and free to join, so if you remember playing at Richmond Park as a kid, or if you think that parks and green spaces are an important feature in our towns, then get in touch with us.

If you have a question or story about the park you'd like to share with the world, then click on the Visitors Book button further down the page. We'd love to hear from you.

We work with many partners at the park, and have added links to some of them below.
