The following options are available to dispose of and recycle your garden waste:
Use your green garden waste bin
For the majority of the year you can use our free garden waste collection service. One free bin is allowed per property; additional bins are available, however an annual charge applies for additional bins. Once collected this waste is sent for composting.
Garden waste collections resumed on Monday 27 February 2012.
Other options for recycling your garden waste during the winter period include:
Home Composting
We are encouraging residents to compost their garden waste at home, which is a better option environmentally. See the composting section below for details of subsidised composters available and how to order one.
Using your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)
If you have too much garden waste to compost it all, you can take it to your local HWRC. Try to incorporate a visit to the Household Waste Recycling Centre into normal routines such as shopping trips. Average fuel consumption for a car is 35 miles per gallon. The refuse and recycling collection vehicles travel at around 4 miles per gallon. During the two-week collection period for green waste, vehicles travel around a 445sq mile district, producing large amounts of carbon in comparison.
Listed below are some of the local Household Waste Recycling Centres
- The Rasens, Gallamore Lane Industrial Estate, Market Rasen
- Summergangs Lane, Gainsborough
- Whisby, near Lincoln
- Great Northern Terrace, Lincoln
Further information can be found in our Household Waste Recycling Centres page.
