Domestic Violence

Across the UK there are literally hundreds of people every day suffering as a result of domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse is not acceptable in ANY circumstances and cannot be excused by anyone - it is a crime that will not be tolerated.

Even though you may feel very alone, you are not. There are many agencies nationally and within West Lindsey available to help and advise you in any way possible and all you need to do is ask. A comprehensive list of these agencies are listed in the ‘Domestic Abuse Directory’ which is available to download below.

Facts about Domestic Abuse

  • Domestic abuse affects 1 in 3 women at some point during their lives. It will also affect 1 in 6 men.
  • Domestic abuse accounts for 16% of all violent crime in the UK.
  • 2 women a week are killed by a current or former partner as a result of domestic abuse.
  • At any one time 7000 women and children are sheltering from domestic abuse in refuges in the UK.
  • Every minute in the UK the Police receive a phone call for assistance regarding domestic abuse.

Support Available

West Lindsey’s Home Options team has a dedicated Domestic Abuse Co-ordinator, who can offer advice, support and assistance to those affected by Domestic Abuse. This includes support to access other agencies, making your home more secure or finding alternative accommodation. You can contact the Home Options team in confidence by:
