Choice Based Lettings
Choice based lettings (CBL) is an initiative developed to give housing applicants more choice about where they want to live. The purpose of CBL is to make the process of registering for an affordable home as simple as possible and to give people greater choice in selecting where and in what property type and tenure they wish to live.
Under the current allocations scheme applicants are automatically matched to a property, where as under the new scheme properties will be advertised and applicants will be able choose which property they wish to express an interest in (or bid for).
At West Lindsey, we are currently working with our neighbouring Councils, the City of Lincoln and North Kesteven to jointly develop a CBL scheme. It is hoped that this will provide greater flexibility for applicants and help to ensure that the service you receive in each area is consistent and simple.
We are hoping to have the new scheme delivered by the end of 2011 and will keep you up to date as to what progress is being made. In the meantime you can continue to access the housing register in the same way.
