Council Services:

Moving house or temporarily living away

Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit is paid in the main based on the person claiming being resident at the property.

  • If you have moved out, or a tenant has moved out we need to know as soon as possible.
  • If you are temporarily living away from your home for example caring for a sick relative or in hospital please let us know. Benefit can be paid for a limited period on a temporary absence basis provided you intend to return to the property.

If you are moving within our district and currently in receipt of Housing/Council Tax Benefit and you still wish to claim complete this Change of Address form and return to us. If however you have had other changes, as well as moving since you last claimed, then a new claim will need to be completed.
