West Lindsey District Council is firmly committed to providing and promoting equality for the community and our own employees. Our policy will ensure that equality influences the way we deliver our community leadership role on behalf of our residents, the manner in which we deliver our services and the way we both employ and develop our staff. To achieve this we will create an environment in which there is respect for every individual.
Our equality objectives are to:
- Provide services which are responsive to the needs of the community, accessible and
- free from prejudice and discrimination
- Take positive action to enhance the life of those who experience discrimination and disadvantage
- Work actively towards eliminating all forms of harassment and unfair discrimination both direct and indirect
- Have a workforce that offers representation of the communities we serve
- To influence partner organisations and contractors’ commitment to equality
- Encourage participation and take account of the views of our communities and individuals
- Encourage individuals to report all forms of discrimination and to resolve complaints and incidents promptly
- Make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people can use and access our services
