The Health and Safety Team is committed to preventing accidents and ill health in places of work. This includes the health, safety and welfare of employees and anyone else who may be affected by the work activity.
We do this by enforcing the Health and Safety at Work Act and by giving advice to businesses. Where enforcement action is necessary, officers take appropriate action dependent on the seriousness of the breach of law, guided by our enforcement policy.
There are about 1050 businesses in the district that are inspected by the Health and Safety Team on a regular basis depending on the risks they pose to their workforce and others.
We also deal with complaints about working conditions and investigate accidents where appropriate.
The Health and Safety at Work Act is enforced in some businesses by the Health and Safety Executive and not by West Lindsey District Council. For further information about this please see our Health and Safety FAQs.
