Skills Development

WLDC is committed to developing employment opportunities and skills levels across the district.

A Skills Forum formed from local schools, training providers, employers and advice agencies meets regularly and works to provide Employment and Skills Fairs, Skills projects such as ‘The Numeracy Challenge’ to support and encourage adults to gain maths qualifications they may have missed out on at school, learning opportunities in community venues and projects to develop employment opportunities such as Future Jobs Fund.

The aims of the Skills Forum are to:

  • tackle deprivation across the district
  • improve skills levels
  • improve employability
